  • How do VARs and resellers find information about IT vendors and current trends?

Mobile devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets are already an integral part of everyday work in many companies. This is also on the increase in medium-sized organisations. This creates a challenge for companies as they have to make sure that corporate sensitive data can be also protected when employees use mobile devices. Moble Device Management addresses these issues and offeres solutions for data protection on mobile devices.

COMPRIS has carried out a survey and interviewed 573 resellers about the topic ‘Mobile Device Management’. We asked which mobile devices they use to access data when they are traveling. In addition we inquired if resellers knew any MDM solutions and if they do which ones do they know. As a part of the questionnaire we also wanted to find out about successful applications and business opportunities connected with MDM.

The results of the study show that Mobile Device Management is the topic that many resellers are not taking much notice of. While the use of mobile devices is very popular, very few resellers know about MDM solutions or have dealt with the issue in the past. Below you will find detailed results of our study.

Conclusion

The results of the study show that the issue of mobile device management  still doesn’t attract much attention. Despite the fact that the majority of people use mobile devices on a regular basis in order to access data when they are on the road only a handful of partners are aware of MDM solutions. System integrators and resellers told us that so far they haven’t had much involvement with MDM solutions. At the same time there is immense potential that can be exploited when it comes to design, implementation and management of MDM services.

Against the background of various trends and developments such as Bring your own device or jobs of the future, companies would need to focus more and more on the topics such as mobile security and possible solutions. In the area of Mobile Device Management there is a need for  urgent action from IT vendors. It is of paramount importance to inform and raise awareness to resellers of this topic especially of the risks that are associated with using mobile devices and how this risk can be counteracted.
